Transnet, in partnership with 22 On Sloane (the largest startup campus and entrepreneurship hub in Africa), invites eligible South African SMMEs to apply for the Transnet Enterprise and Supplier Development Incubation Programme.
This application covers the following five specialised development programmes: Maritime Development (Scope D), Construction (Scope E), Export Development for Manufacturers (Scope F), Supplier Development (Scope G), and Supplier Quality Management (Scope H).
📌 Available Development Scopes
✅ Eligibility — Who Can Apply?
📘 Enterprise Development (ED)
Scopes D, E, F
- Valid B-BBEE Certificate / Affidavit
- Active CIPC Registration
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance Status
- Qualifying EME or QSE — at least 51% black owned
- Operating for a minimum of 12 months
📍 Available ED Scopes:
Scope D — Maritime (KZN, EC, WC)
Scope E — Construction (KZN, EC, WC)
Scope F — Export (EC, WC, KZN, NW, MP)
📗 Supplier Development (SD)
Scopes F, G, H
- Valid B-BBEE Certificate / Affidavit
- Active CIPC Registration
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance Status
- Qualifying EME or QSE — at least 51% black owned
- Active Transnet Vendor Number
- Two consecutive financial year statements
- Operating for a minimum of 24 months

❓ What’s the difference between ED and SD?
Enterprise Development (ED) is for earlier-stage enterprises (operating 12+ months) building capacity. Supplier Development (SD) is for established businesses (operating 24+ months, active Transnet Vendor Number) ready to integrate into Transnet’s supply chain.
❓ Do I need a Transnet Vendor Number to apply?
Only for Supplier Development (SD) scopes (F, G, H). Enterprise Development (ED) scopes (D, E, F) do not require a Transnet Vendor Number.
❓ Is the programme free?
Yes, selected SMMEs participate at no cost. The programme is funded by Transnet’s Enterprise and Supplier Development budget.
❓ Can I apply for multiple scopes?
Choose the scope that best aligns with your business. Each scope has specific eligibility requirements based on your location and business maturity.
❓ What happens after I apply?
Applications are reviewed by the 22 On Sloane team. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessment. Successful applicants will be notified to join the incubation programme.
